Around the World, Around the World

Combine a love of vintage, bold colors, and a serious case of wanderlust and you get my new obsession: globes! They have such a timeless quality and remind me of all the great places I have been and dream to someday visit. I have been stalking this lovely vintage inspired globe from designer Kelly O'Neal for a while now. He uses a recycled metal globe based on a 1950's classroom model, and the base is taken from one around the late 1800's.
It recently went on sale at Sundance and I had to order one up pronto. This is one big wide world honey, measuring in at 20" Dia. x 29"H.  It really creates a focal point in your space and with the vintage inspired feel it immediately felt like it's always been in my house.  Now I'm lusting these over lovely globes by Wendy Gold at ImagineNations.
She also uses vintage globes as the base and the artwork is all handcut and decoupaged on to form one lovely creation.  Such beautiful pieces, I might just need to start a collection. You can also check out Gold's work at her etsy shop where each globe is made to order and custom sized. Until next time, bon voyage!
